The Arkansas Water Resources Center (“AWRC”) has released what it describes as a “special announcement” regarding:
When can we expect the application for 104(b) pre-proposals this year? (“Announcement”)
AWRC states that it is:
. . . adjust the timing of the 104(b) research project selection process for the next funding cycle (FY2023) to reflect recent program changes at the national level.
The organization expects the project period for fiscal year 2023 to be from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024. Further, it indicates that the publication of the request for pre-proposals will take place in September with a date due end of October. Notifications of final project selections are expected to occur in mid-December.
It is noted that funding is dependent on federal appropriations. Project funding ceilings should remain at:
- $35,000 for faculty
- $10,000 for students
The Announcement also notes that the requirement for matching funds has been reduced to 1:1 (i.e. one non-federal dollar in matching for every dollar of federal funding requested).
The AWRC describes itself as a water resources institution established, along with similar institutions, in land-grant universities, by the passage in 1964 of the Federal Water Resources Act. The organization says that in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Institute of Water Resources, it has “helped local, state, and federal agencies learn how to manage Arkansas’ water resources for more than 30 years “.
