This month, an enhanced version of the University’s single sign-on service, Central Login, will debut. It will bring a new look of a modern design that is deliberately designed to support mobile functionality and accessibility needs. In addition to the updated look, there will be several new enhancements for University faculty, staff, and students.
A major improvement is greater security against services that store sensitive information, such as ReggieNet and Campus Solutions. Explaining the upcoming change, Chief Information Officer Charley Edamala said, “We have to meet security requirements, which means we’ve had to revise the underlying technology. The new infrastructure has advanced built-in security to protect your privacy and is among the best in the country. Resources that could only be reached with a VPN connection will soon be accessible directly through Central Login.
Edamala continued, “The new upgrades will also allow us to roll out new features in the future, such as the ability to collaborate more easily with other institutions and research repositories.” Additionally, this upgrade will put Central Login ahead of the University’s Microsoft 365 services for a consistent experience for our University users.
The campus community has nothing to do to prepare for the launch of the new central connection. The new design and login experience can be viewed ahead of its launch later in May.
