An Eagle Grove man was charged Saturday in connection with an incident with gunfire near the 400 block of Second Avenue Northeast in the State Center that occurred on March 19, the department chief said. State Center police officer, Jon Thomas.
Noe Hernandez Espino has been charged with one count of reckless use of a firearm and one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He cooperated and surrendered to authorities on Saturday morning after being identified, Thomas said in the statement.
At the time of the incident, Thomas said no damage to property or people in the area had been reported.
Casings had been found in the area, which would make reckless use of a firearm a misdemeanor. In the Iowa Penal Code, intimidation with a dangerous weapon is classified as a class “C” or “D” felony, depending on the circumstances relating to the seriousness of the situation.
Thomas cited assistance from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office and Eagle Grove Police Department as well as the general public in conducting the search and finding the suspect.
