The Nevada County Country Club Women’s Golf Group has raised $4,300 in recent weeks to donate to support groups at the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center. The many support groups help patients, their families and caregivers.
“We support the Cancer Center every year,” said Mary Deardorff, representative of the Women’s Group. “This year, it’s a record amount.”
In addition to the club’s Oct. 11 cancer tournament, funds were generated through a Beauty and the Beast tournament, lunch for the men’s club, donations from men’s and women’s groups, raffles fate and many individual gifts.
Deardorff thanked the men’s and women’s groups, Club Pro/Manager Kelly Runkle and participating golfers for their efforts. “Thank you to everyone who stepped up,” she said. “We can all be proud of our little club.”
