The 4Life Learning Center is a fun, unaccredited adult education program that serves the entire community. Classes are designed to inform, entertain and inspire with its extensive curriculum. In addition to courses, trips and tours are also part of the center’s offerings.
The 4Life Learning Center was established in 1976 as Community Church College by the United Community Church. In 2019, he moved to Sun City Center United Methodist Church.
The fall semester program is currently being created. Popular past courses have included sign language, current affairs discussions, genealogy, calligraphy, finance, history, art science, and psychology.
Sue Holter, 4Life Center Advisory Board Member and Office Manager, is excited about the upcoming classes and trips.
“We add conversational Spanish, international travel and music appreciation,” Holter said. “We hope to add more new classes when we hear from a number of new instructors.”
The fall semester begins Monday, October 10 and will be held at Sun’s Downtown United Methodist Church, located at 1210 W. Del Webb Blvd. in downtown Sun. Each semester lasts six weeks and each course lasts 90 minutes. All classes are held weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. According to Holter, more than 200 people attend classes at the 4Life Center, with some attending more than one class per semester.
In addition, many fun day trips are planned through the 4Life Center and posted on the website. Some of these trips include the comedy show and dinner theater at Largo on Thursday, July 21, a daytime music cruise on the Anna Maria Princess ship on Tuesday, September 13, and a sunset dinner cruise from Sarasota. Thursday, November 10.
“Most of our day travelers return to sign up for additional trips,” Holter said. “They are very fond of our escorts, Patricia and Lenny Jones.”
The 4Life Learning Center is also looking for new instructors needed for upcoming courses on iPhone/iPad, Conversational French, Conversational Italian, Bridge and Mahjong. If you are interested in joining the 4Life Center teaching team, contact Holter at 813-634-8607 or email [email protected]
