Fort Bragg Presbyterian Church recently presented Mendocino County Cancer Resource Centers (CRC) with a $1,000 donation to help coastal cancer patients pay for transportation to their appointments. you medical. The CRC provides gas cards to help cancer patients with the cost of gas, but volunteer drivers are also needed. Volunteer drivers must have a clean driving record and a safe, insured vehicle. The Cancer Resource Center recently hired a bilingual and bicultural patient navigator, Keily Becerra Sanchez, so that Spanish-speaking cancer patients can also access support services. Keily joins patient navigator Jack Bush to provide services to residents of the coast. “We are thrilled to provide a superior level of service to our Latino friends and neighbors in Ukiah and the coastal region,” said Karen Oslund, Executive Director.
About 500 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in Mendocino County, and the CRC provides help for most of them. The CRC Coastal Office, located at 510 Cypress Street, Suite B-200, Fort Bragg, is conveniently located adjacent to the hospital, with easy access to the oncology office.
